This notice explains how personal data are used in the speech naturalness survey at svennaber.de.
Contact and responsibility
The person responsible for this survey and the processing of personal data is:
Sven Naber c/o Universität Stuttgart Institut für Maschinelle Sprachverarbeitung Pfaffenwaldring 5 b 70569 Stuttgart DeutschlandFor questions about the study or your data:

Participation and research data
Participation is voluntary. Each sheet contains 20 recordings to rate for speech naturalness. You may stop at any time. The responses are used to compare recordings and analyse how natural they sound to listeners.
We store:
- Your ratings, assigned recordings and survey sheets.
- A random participant reference and browser identifier, together with your number of completed sheets.
- Saved progress, basic timing and playback information, and whether a sheet was completed or excluded from analysis.
Answers are saved as you work, including unfinished sheets. Research responses are pseudonymous: they use a participant reference and do not require your name or email address.
You may complete up to five sheets in total. Browser recognition lets you resume your work and helps enforce this limit. Please respect the limit across browsers and devices. We do not use device fingerprinting or identify participants by IP address.
Optional lottery
After completing a sheet, you may enter the lottery by providing an email address. Entry is optional and does not affect acceptance of your ratings. Each participant and email address may enter once; completing more sheets does not improve your chances.
Email addresses and entry times are kept separately from ratings and are excluded from research exports. An eligibility record prevents duplicate entries. Your email is used only to administer the lottery and contact you about its outcome. The prize, draw date and terms are shown before you enter.
Legal bases
Survey responses are processed with your consent under Article 6(1)(a) GDPR. Lottery participation requires separate consent under the same provision. You may withdraw either consent at any time using the contact address above. Withdrawal does not affect processing carried out lawfully before that point.
Website delivery, essential cookies and protection against misuse are based on Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. The legitimate interests are providing a reliable survey and preventing unauthorized or duplicate submissions. Necessary cookies support the service you request, under Section 25(2)(2) TDDDG.
See the GDPR and Section 25 TDDDG.
Cookies
A session cookie keeps your current visit secure. A second cookie recognizes your browser for up to 180 days after it is set or renewed, allowing you to resume the survey and keeping track of the five-sheet limit. These cookies contain random identifiers, not your ratings or email address.
You can manage cookies in your browser settings. Blocking them prevents participation. Deleting them removes access to saved progress but does not delete responses already stored. To request deletion, use the contact address above.
Hosting and access to data
The website uses united-domains Webspace, provided through IONOS SE, Elgendorfer Str. 57, 56410 Montabaur, with servers in Germany. Your IP address is processed to deliver the website and recordings.
According to the provider, access logs include requested pages or files, the referring page where available, browser and device information, access times and an anonymized IP address. IONOS retains these records for eight weeks for security and stability and may use necessary infrastructure cookies. See the hosting provider’s privacy information.
The study organizer uses responses for research and contact details to run the lottery. Hosting providers process data to provide the service. Technical error records are used to resolve faults and security incidents and kept only as long as needed for that purpose.
The site has no third-party analytics, advertising or social-media embeds. Scripts, fonts and other page assets are served locally. External sites are contacted only when you follow their links. There is no advertising profiling or automated decision-making with legal or similarly significant effects.
Your rights
Subject to the applicable GDPR conditions, you may request access, correction, erasure, restriction of processing or data portability, and object to processing based on legitimate interests.
Contact us using the email address above. For questions about your ratings, include your participant reference, available under “Privacy & participation” in the survey. For lottery enquiries, use the email address you entered. Without a participant reference or the original browser cookie, we may be unable to identify your responses.
You may also complain to a data protection authority, including the Landesbeauftragte für den Datenschutz und die Informationsfreiheit Baden-Württemberg.
